CASE 01 · Education · Visang Education · Aug–Dec 2021

From classroom understanding to design criteria for a digital textbook

A project that examined the functions of a digital textbook and its classroom environment, and mapped the teacher's experience through a standard Korean-language lesson. We analyzed how UX issues in the printed and digital textbooks relate, and turned that into a design direction.

What we did

Lesson and environment analysissurveyed the digital textbook's functions and the domestic and overseas market, and analyzed lesson cases and the subject's use environment.

Teacher journey and UX issuesmapped the teacher's UX along a standard Korean-language lesson and analyzed how UX issues in printed and digital textbooks relate.

Design criteriaproposed an optimization strategy and guidelines for everyone involved in textbook development: authors, designers, and developers.

Results and deliverables

Teacher lesson journey and UX issues; optimization strategy and guidelines for the digital textbook. We also proposed a method for multi-participant video observation suited to the post-COVID classroom.

CASE 02 · Healthcare & rehabilitation · BNR · Aug–Dec 2021

Designing a rehabilitation service across device, app, and clinic

A project that analyzed the market and existing services to firm up the development direction, then designed the positioning, information architecture, and user flow of a rehabilitation service, including the scenarios linking device, app, and in-person care.

What we did

Service directionanalyzed the market and the client's own service, and derived a positioning strategy for the service and its image from a business canvas.

Structure and linking scenariosdeveloped the information architecture and service workflow, and defined the scenarios connecting device, app, and in-person service.

Interface and guidelinesdeveloped UI wireframes and the application GUI, and produced UI design guidelines for future maintenance and new planning.

Results and deliverables

Service positioning, service identity, information architecture and workflow, linking scenarios, UI wireframes and GUI, design guidelines.

CASE 03 · Industrial safety system · Korea East-West Power, Ulsan Thermal Power Plant · JR Industry · Aug 2017–Aug 2019

From field research to the use flow of an entire system

A project that studied the users and working environment at a power plant and defined the functions and interface a mis-operation prevention system needs. We designed the use flow of the entire system, down to the devices workers carry.

What we did

User and field researchconducted user research and field observation in the plant's working environment, and analyzed the findings.

Function definition and interfacedefined the functions of the new device and developed wireframes and the UI design.

Linking devices and the operations screendesigned the use flow of the whole system, including panel terminals, electronic tags, and gateways, together with the operations system UI.

Results and deliverables

UX/UI of the mis-operation prevention system; use flow linking worker devices and the operations screen; operations system UI design.
